The world’s oldest person, 115-year-old Dina Manfredini, of the US state of Iowa, has died on Monday morning less than two weeks after gaining the Guinness World Records ‘title’ of the world’s oldest living person. Dina Manfredini’s granddaughter, Lori Logli, hasn’t divulged the cause of the demise of Dina Manfredini.
Dina Manfredini, born in Italy on April 4, 1897, exited Italy for Iowa in 1920 with her Late husband, Riccardo. Dina Manfredini, who has experienced life in three centuries, dwelled at a nursing home in Johnston, Iowa.
Guinness World Records verified that Dina Manfredini had inherited the title of the world’s oldest living being less than two weeks ago. Dina Manfredini had obtained the title of the world’s oldest living person after Bessie Cooper of the US state of Georgia passed away on December 5 at the age of 116.
Dina Manfredini is the only Italian person documented to have reached 115 years. Jiroemon Kimura, a Japanese male just 15 days younger than Dina Manfredini, now possesses the tag of the world’s oldest living person, as per Robert Young, Guinness World Records spokesman. Kimura, of Kyotango in Kyoto, came into this world on April 19, 1897, and is believed to be the second-oldest male ever registered, in accordance with the Guinness spokesman.
Reportedly, when Dina Manfredini’s husband experienced an injury, she worked at a food processing plant in the US to financially assist her family. Manfredini also operated at a Des Moines ordnance plant, which manufactured weaponry during WW 2. She raised four kids but continued to clean apartments on the side till she was 90 years old.
Dina Manfredini had remarked to Des Moines Register in 2004 that she loved to work hard despite her age. Meanwhile, as per a US Census Bureau report, which was divulged last week, only two out of 10 Americans, who live till 100 years or longer, are male. It is believed that the average life expectancy in the US is 78.2 years.
It is more important that Dina Manfredini led a proud and independent life…may her soul rest in peacefulness….also, the fact that she experienced a peaceful death and not a harrowing one is a relief…
