Premier League transfer window closes tonight and we hear lots of transfer gossip stories involving last minute shopping. Starting with a surprise move by Arsenal; according to The Daily Mail Arsene Wenger is keen on signing Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien on loan. Yes, you read it right – on loan.

Roberto Di Matteo would definitely not mind letting the 29-year-old go, as Essien was struggling with form following the knee injury. Chelsea manager is also ready to let go Daniel Sturridge, if he is successful in getting Andre Schurrle on board, reports Mirror.

However, things won’t be easy for Chelsea, as Liverpool is also likely to chase Daniel Sturridge as a replacement for Andy Carroll, who last night signed West Ham deal.

Heading to Manchester City. At the time of panic buying, there are reports that City will sign Maicon in a £3 million deal, as Nigel de Jong is on his way out to the Etihad. Also, City has finally agreed a £6.2million fee with Swansea for Scott Sinclair. As a cover for Joe Hart, Roberto Mancini is showing interest in former Arsenal goalkeeper Richard Wright.

Tottenham Hotspur’s move to replace the ageing Brad Friedel with Hugo Lloris appears to be in a threat. Lyon, Lloris’ parent club, has claimed that they have failed to reach an agreement with Spurs over his transfer.

According to ESPN, Charlie Adam might leave Liverpool and move to Stoke City for bid of £4 million. However, Fulham and Everton are also showing interest in Adam, had been planning to stay at Anfield this season.
