In an interview with ABC broadcaster Katie Couric, Prince William expresses his wish to have children with his newly married bride Catherine and also mourns the absence of his mother, Princess Diana.
The Duke of Cambridge told Couric that he had been enjoying his time in the Air Force, and he would love to continue it; but “the pressures of my other life are building”, he added.
“More importantly, I’d like to have children”, the 30-year-old member of the Royal Family sounded wishful.
“I’m just very keen to have a family and both Catherine and I are looking forward to having a family in the future”, he said.
Though, when pressed if there was any news he would like to share, William quipped rather characteristically, “You won’t get anything out of me. Tight-lipped.”
As for his charismatic mother and her sad, untimely demise, the Duke of Cambridge grieved, “It was very difficult. It’s the one time since she’s died, where I’ve thought to myself it would be fantastic if she was here.”
“And just how sad really for her, more than anything, not being able to see it. Because I think she would have loved the day and I think, hopefully, she’d be very proud of us both for the day”, he continued.
William went on to mention how “very difficult” it was to prepare himself emotionally for the big day to ensure he did not break down, saying, “I sort of prepared myself beforehand so that I was sort of mentally prepared … I didn’t want any wobbly lips or anything going on.”
William met Catherine in St Andrews University four years after the catastrophic 1997 accident that took Diana’s life. As William said wistfully, “I’m just very sad that she’s never going to get a chance to meet Kate.”
The queen let in Camilla Parker and realised her catastrophic mistake. But it was too late. Now this woman should be thankful to the Almighty that equations at the royal household has changed since.
Princess Diana would have dug a grave for herself if she saw Kate.
