No whereabouts of missing Megan Stammers known, as French police make no search attempts

In a shocking disclosure by the French police last night, it was confirmed that no search attempts are being made to know the whereabouts of missing Megan Stammers as the French officials do not consider Jeremy Forrest, her maths teacher with whom Megan Stammers fled to France, a ‘criminal suspect’.

The French officials further went onto say that even if the 30-year-old Jeremy Forrest is found, they would make no attempts to arrest him as, according to them, he has made no criminal offence. The officials claim that Forrest has not broken any of the country’s laws despite having eloped with his 15-year-old student Megan Stammers.

The reason for their dauntless behaviour lies in the French law which states that the age of consent in France is 15, meaning any intimate relationship between the pair would not be deemed illegal.

French prosecutor Jean-Philippe Joubert said Megan Stammers was old enough to travel with Forrest voluntarily, and unless the authorities received a criminal complaint from their British counterparts, Megan Stammers would simply be treated as a ‘missing person’.

The shocking revelation is feared to spark ideas that little or nothing is being done to find the missing Megan Stammers and Jeremy Forrest, who fled from Sussex last Thursday, following an investigation into their affair was initiated by the Sussex police.

Astonishing pieces of information have emerged while parents of Megan Stammers patiently await their daughter’s whereabouts. It has emerged that her mobile phone was in police custody before she eloped to France, and according to one relative, she was interrogated by the police before she ran away.

Additionally, the police were accused of negligence as they got the model of Forrest’s car wrong and the date Megan Stammers and Jeremy Forrest fled to France. Megan Stammmers’ friends said that her mother was worried of her phone habits and at times she would confiscate her phone to keep a tab on her.
