October 11, 2012: Jimmy Savile’s sexual abuse of children at Stoke Mandeville hospital, Leeds General Infirmary, Broadmoor secure hospital and Haut de la Garenne children’s home in Jersey, emerges.

October 12, 2012: Police receive 340 potential inquiries regarding Jimmy Savile. Two lines of inquiries were announced – one would focus on why the Newsnight investigation was dropped, and the second would involve the examination of BBC’s work culture during Jimmy Savile’s working years there.

October 13, 2012: Police say their investigation will span six decades from 1959-2006, with the estimated number of victims to be about 60. 12 complaints of sexual offences have been made to the police and 14 forces are involved.

October 15, 2012: A 9-year-old Cub Scout, who is now a 45-year-old man named Kevin Cook, told The Sun that he had been sexually exploited by Jimmy Savile in 1976 during filming for a Jim’ll Fix It television show.

Even in death a man’s dignity can be lost and overnight his achievements can be forgotten. It remains to be seen how many more skeletons are still hiding in the cupboard of the phenomenon called Jimmy Savile.
