The latest update on Jimmy Savile scandal is that legal notice has been issued to Jimmy Savile’s estate, the BBC and five other institutions including Stoke Mandeville hospital, by 43 victims who seek compensation for alleged sexual abuse by Jimmy Savile.
One woman claiming compensation was allegedly 8-years-old when she was sexually assaulted by Jimmy Savile. The woman, believed to be the youngest victim so far, claims to have been molested by Jimmy Savile while she was recovering from surgery at Stoke Mandeville hospital.
Liz Dux, a solicitor at law firm Russell Jones Walking, which is acting for 36 claimants including the woman, said “letters before action” have been issued to the executors of the Savile estate, the BBC, Stoke Mandeville, Leeds general infirmary, Broadmoor and unnamed another care institution.
Speaking about the youngest victim, Dux quoted to the Sun, “She was a little girl who went in for treatment [at Stoke Mandeville] and came out an abuse victim. She should have been protected.”
Today, BBC disclosed that currently 20 staff are facing internal allegations of sexual misbehaviour. The current number of complaints against BBC staff is more than double the figure issued following the inquiry of BBC director general George Entwistle by the Commons culture, media and sport select committee last month.
Meanwhile, comedy king Freddie Starr who was arrested by the police this week and later let off on bail, expressed fear of getting killed with the ongoing Jimmy Savile scandal investigation. Freddie Starr said to the Sunday People, “It’s heartbreaking and its affecting my health and everything. It’s unbelievable. I’m absolutely drained. I’ve had four heart attacks. I think if things keep on like this it’s going to kill me.”
Freddie Starr is accused of sexually exploiting an underage girl in Jimmy Savile’s dressing room in 1970s, but insists he is innocent, revealing that he once rescued two 14-year-old girls from Jimmy Savile, the alleged necrophiliac.
