Lostprophets’ Ian Watkins who appeared in court yesterday facing six charges of child sex abuse, refused to admit to the offences, which included sexual abuse of a child aged below 13 and four other offences relating to possession and distribution of indecent images of children.
Ian Watkins’ sexual offence charges include those committed against two girl children - one aged below 13, and the other aged one. Ian Watkins allegedly carried out the sexual offences from May to December this year.
Bandmates of Lostprophets’ Ian Watkins have expressed their deep-felt shock over his arrest on child sex abuse charges, and have shut down their website and issued a statement in the regard, which said, ”Following charges made today against Ian Watkins, we find ourselves in a state of shock. We are learning about the details of the investigation along with you. It is a difficult time for us and our families, and we want to thank our fans for their support as we seek answers. Signed by “Jamie, Lee, Luke, Mike and Stu.”
In relation to the case of Ian Watkins’ child sex abuse offences, a 24-year-old woman has been charged with the same offences as Ian Watkins, while a 20-year-old woman is charged with five of the same offences but not conspiracy to rape.
The court refused bail application of all the three accused and are due to appear before Cardiff Crown Court on December 31. Since their formation in 1997, Lostprophets have sold a whopping 3.5 million albums and given the allegations, their image is unlikely to restore its the previous heights.
