Foo Fighters etched the last day of the Reading festival permanently in the memory of the music connoisseurs by playing a colossal 26 song-set and the crowd singing Happy Birthdayfor Dave Grohl’s mother.
The band performed at the closing day, thus bringing the three day music festival to a mesmerising halt. Foo fighters had performed earlier at Leeds on Friday.
Rumbling through the massive list of songs, Dave Grohl, the primary songwriter and founder of Foo Fighters announced that this would be the band’s last show for a long time in the coming future. He said, “It’s the last show of the tour and it’s the last show for a long time.”
Dave Grohl was at his emotional best devoting his songs Walk and Monkey Wrench to his daughters Violent and Harper. He then dedicated his Three Days song to his former Nirvana band members Krist Novoselic and the late Kurt Cobain.
Remembering the last tour of Nirvana in England at the Reading festival, he diligently asked the audience to repeat their performance of singing Happy Birthday to his mum. He said, “In 1992, when Nirvana played here, you sang Happy Birthday to my mum. Here’s your chance.” The audience earnestly obliged and rendered the song.
Dave Grohl ended the 26 song marathon by their hit number Everlong. Foo Fighters have won five Grammy’s for Wasting Light this year and have promised to continue their style of song making.
The band is amped up to embark on their tour in the United States in the month of September. They will be performing live at North Carolina, Atlanta and Florida.
