The BRIT Awards 2013 ceremony marked a splendid night packed with memorable performances and some awesome moments at the O2 Arena in London on February 20. BRITs 2013 kicked off with a dramatic performance by Muse which was followed by some electrifying performances by Mumford & Sons, One Direction (scream), Taylor Swift, Robbie Williams, Ben Howard and Emeli Sande, with Justin Timberlake being the ‘cherry on the cake’ with his suited and booted performance.

The star of the evening was Emeli Sande who led the winners at the BRIT Awards by bagging two awards - Best British Female Solo Artist, and the coveted Best British Album title for her super hit record ‘Our Version of Events’, marking a fitting end to a marvellous year. Ben Howard also celebrated a double win by scooping British Breakthrough Act award and British Male Solo Artist award, beating the likes of Calvin Harris and Olly Murs.

Freshly single Taylor Swift rocked the BRIT Awards stage with her new hit ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’, while her ex Harry Styles watched in awkward awe. Justin Timberlake broke the shackles by performing his smash-hit ‘Mirrors’, the new single from his latest album ‘The 20/20 Experience’, but what’s an awards night without a One Direction effect? The boy band performed their version of ‘One Way or Another’, this year’s Comic Relief single, before going onto become the first band ever to win the global success gong.

Last year, Adele’s speech was abruptly cut short when she won an award and James Corden spent a part of the evening apologising for the solitary moment. However, Adele didn’t turn up at BRITs 2013 to collect her Best Single award for Skyfall, opting instead to rehearse for her performance at Sunday’s Oscars ceremony in Los Angeles. While Mumford & Sons won the Best British Group honour, Black Keys wasn’t left far behind as it won the Best International Group award.

Coldplay was named Best British Live Act, beating the Rolling Stones, the veteran group first nominated for a Brit award 35 years ago. Frank Ocean, whose acclaimed debut album followed a series of mixtapes, was honoured with Best International Male Solo Artist title. The BRIT Awards 2013 winners are:
