“You hear these yummy mummies talk about being the best possible mothers and they put all their effort into their children. I also want to be the best possible mother, but I know that my job as a mother includes bringing my children up so actually they can live without me,” Booth defends the working mothers.
Former Prime Minister’s wife raised four children while working as a barrister and also as the first lady of Downing Street for 11 years.
Booth recalled, how 10 days before the birth of her baby, she had been still working and was hospitalised being cautioned that the baby was not growing. “It was rubbish — he was fine”, blurted out Booth.
Cherie Booth, while speaking on a panel on leadership and female representation in the boardroom, emphasised on the need for young women to be financially independent.
The concerned champion of women’s financial independence talked about ladies who think, “why can’t I just marry a rich husband and retire?” Booth expressed her discontent about such inclination of young women, calling it “dangerous”.
“Every woman needs to be self-sufficient,” Cherie Booth asserted to a Fortune Most Powerful Women event in Claridge’s last night. “You really don’t have a choice — for your own satisfaction,” she added.
